Create Connections with Z-Side Tokens
Z-Side Token Video
A Z-side service token can be used to create a virtual connection to a service provider or another Equinix Fabric customer. In order to create the connection, you must have a valid service token shared with you by a reseller, carrier, service provider, or other Equinix Fabric customer. The service token is typically provided in an email.
Create a Connection to a Service Provider with a Z-Side Token
To create a connection with a Z-Side token:

Log in to Equinix Fabric.

On the Connections menu, click Create a Connection.

On the Connect using Service Token card, click Enter Service Token.

In the Redeem Service Token prompt, paste the service token provided by the service provider.

Once the service token has been validated, click Redeem. The connection order workflow will display.

In the Origin section, click Port.

Select a Location. All of the available ports in the selected location will display.

Select a port.
Note: Only the port(s) on which the Z-side token was created will be available for selection.

Click Next.

In the Connection Information section, enter a connection name and the VLAN ID.

(Optional) Enter the purchase order number.

Select a Connection Speed. Connection speed options are pre-defined by the service provider.

Click Next.

Review your order.

Click Submit Order. A confirmation page will display with information about the connection, including the unique ID and a link to view the connection in your Connections Inventory.

Create Redundant Connections with Z-Side Tokens for Redundant A-Side Network Edge Devices
You can create a pair of connections from your redundant virtual devices with two separate Z-side service tokens. Once these connections have been created, you can view, edit, and delete them from your Connections Inventory. To create redundant connections to redundant virtual devices:

Log in to Equinix Fabric.

On the Connections menu, click Create a Connection.

On the Connect using Service Token card, click Enter Service Token.

In the Redeem Service Token prompt, paste the destination (primary) service token.

Once the service token has been validated, click Redeem. The connection order workflow will display.

In the Origin section, click Virtual Device.

Select a Location.
-
In the Select Virtual Device Type section, select Virtual Devices, Redundant Devices, or Clusters.

In the Select Connection Type section, select Redundant Connection.

Select a virtual device
Note: Only the devices in the location selected will display.

In the Redundant Destination section, click Service Token.
-
In the Redeem Service Token prompt, paste the redundant destination (secondary) service token.

Click Validate.

Click Next.

In the Primary Connection Information section, enter a name for the primary connection.

In the Secondary Connection Information section, enter a name for the secondary connection.

In the Interfaces section, determine which interface to use.

Automatically select the next available interface on my device(s) – Select if you want to use the next available interface.

I will select the interface on my device – Select if you want to specify an interface.

(Optional) Enter the purchase order number.

Select a Primary Connection Speed.
-
Select a Secondary Connection Speed.
-
Click Next.
-
Review your order.
-
Click Submit Order. A confirmation page will display with information about the connection, including the unique ID and a link to view the connection in your Connections Inventory.
Edit Z-Side Connection
Both the Z-Side token connection bandwidth and the connection name can be edited.
To edit the Z-side token connection:
- Log in to Equinix Fabric.

On the Connections menu, click Connection Inventory.

Click the connection you want to edit. The Connection Details will display.

To change the Connection Name:

Click Edit.

Enter a new name for your connection.

Click Confirm.
Note: If you don’t see the name change immediately after clicking Confirm, refresh your browser.

To edit the Bandwidth:

Click Change.
-
Select a new speed in the drop-down menu. The speeds available in the drop-down are limited to those selected when the Z-side token was created. (See Create a Z-Side Service Token for more information.)

Select I am authorized to make this change and accept the new monthly charge.

Click Confirm to submit the change request. You will receive an email when the connection is updated.
