Create Connections with Z-Side Service Tokens

A Z-side service token can be used to create a virtual connection to a service provider or another Equinix Fabric customer. In order to create the connection, you must have a valid service token shared with you by a reseller, carrier, service provider, or other Equinix Fabric customer.

Connection to a Service Provider with a Z-Side Service Token

Prerequisites

Before creating a connection to a service provider using a Z-side service token, you must have:

  • An Equinix Fabric account, with the following IAM roles assigned: Fabric Connections Manager.

  • A Z-side service token.

  • A Fabric port, an A-side service token, or a Network Edge virtual device.

Create a Connection Using a Z-side Service Token

To create a connection using a Z-Side service token:

  1. Log in to Equinix Fabric.

  2. From the Connections menu, select Create a Connection.

  3. On the Connect using Service Token card, click Enter Service Token.

  4. In the Redeem Service Token prompt, enter the service token provided to you, then click Validate.

  5. Once the service token has been validated, click Redeem.

  6. In the Origin section, configure your connection depending on the origin asset type:

  7. On the Connection Details page:

    1. Enter a connection name and the VLAN ID.

    2. Enter the purchase order number.

    3. Select a Connection Speed, then click Next.

      Note: Connection speed options are pre-defined by the service provider.

  8. Review your order, then Submit Order.

Create Redundant Connections with Z-Side Tokens for Redundant A-Side Network Edge Devices

You can create a pair of connections from your redundant virtual devices with two separate Z-side service tokens.

Prerequisites

Before creating a connection from redundant Network Edge virtual devices to destination defined with Z-side service token, you must have:

  • An Equinix Fabric account, with the following IAM roles assigned: Fabric Connections Manager.

  • Two Z-side service tokens, granting access to ports in both redundancy planes (primary and secondary).

  • Redundant Network Edge virtual devices.

Create a Connection Using a Z-side Service Token

To create redundant connections to virtual devices:

  1. Log in to Equinix Fabric.

  2. From the Connections menu, select Create a Connection.

  3. On the Connect using Service Token card, click Enter Service Token.

  4. In the Redeem Service Token prompt, enter the service token provided to you, then click Validate.

  5. Once the service token has been validated, click Redeem.

  6. On the Select Locations page:

    1. In the Connect Using section, click Virtual Device.

    2. Select a location.

    3. Choose the Redundant Devices type.

    4. Select the Redundant Connection type.

    5. Choose a virtual device instance.

    6. In the Redundant Destination section, enter your secondary Z-side service token.

    7. Click Next.

  7. On the Connection Details page:

    1. Enter names for both connections.

    2. Select a network interface on your virtual device.

    3. Enter the purchase order number.

    4. Select a Connection Speed, for each connection, then click Next.

  8. Review your order, then Submit Order.
